Lollapalooza is now an American institution as well as a staple of MrBusDriver's summer
festival diet. Launched as the brainchild of super-genius Perry Farrel in 1990 as a
Woodstock-like traveling showcase for alternative Rock bands like his own Jane's Addiction,
Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop, Soundgarden, Queen Latifah, The Cramps, The Indigo Girls, Lenny
Kravitz, Joan Baez, Steve Jones (of the Sex Pistols fame), and Public Enemy, Lollapalooza is
not to be missed.
The 2008 edition of Lollapalooza, August 1-3, in Grant Park looks to be yet another great
event. Already on the bill, once again, are Iggy Pop and Pearl Jam, along with the likes of the
fascinating dance party aka Daft Punk from France, Interpol, Ben Harper, Modest Mouse, The
Roots, and cross your fingers, Amy Winehouse. Normally a two day and night affair, we are
really excited to enjoy a bonus day in the Windy City with the world's most amazing acts in
2008.... another day to rock out at one of the best events on the planet.
MrBusDriver is currently formulating a plan of attack as well as a pricing schedule for the
festivities in August. We will have a handful of buses converging upon Chicago from every
direction, so it is likely there will be a way for everyone to get there safely, economically, and
